Wenergy has completed the delivery of its Stars Series industrial liquid-cooled energy storage systems to Sierra Leone, further strengthening its presence in Africa’s rapidly growing renewable energy market. Scheduled to be commissioned by December 2025, the off-grid solar-plus-storage solution will supply stable and low-carbon electricity to local mining operations, working in coordination with existing photovoltaic infrastructure.

Across many regions in Africa, mining facilities operate far from centralized power grids and remain dependent on diesel generation, leading to high fuel costs, carbon emissions, and operational challenges.
In Sierra Leone, Wenergy is implementing a hybrid off-grid microgrid that integrates solar PV, battery energy storage, diesel generators, and mining loads through an intelligent Energy Management System (EMS). This solution prioritizes renewable energy, optimizes generator runtime, and ensures continuous power delivery—while significantly reducing fuel consumption and total energy costs. Its modular design allows the system to scale alongside mining operations, offering a replicable model for low-carbon mining in West Africa.

Wenergy’s experience in Africa is supported by multiple successfully executed mining and metallurgy projects:
Zimbabwe Lithium Mining Project
A 24 MWh ESS integrated into a solar–diesel microgrid serving a lithium mine with an annual production capacity of 700,000 tons. Over 20% of the site’s electricity is now supplied by renewables, cutting power costs to less than one-twentieth of fully diesel-based generation.
Zambia Metallurgical Facility
A configuration of 3 MWp solar PV combined with 7.7 MWh of energy storage, managed by an EMS capable of power source switching within 10 milliseconds. The system reduced electricity costs to USD 0.15–0.25 per kWh and lowered annual CO₂ emissions by approximately 1,200 tons.
These projects highlight Wenergy’s ability to deliver reliable, cost-efficient, and high-performance off-grid energy systems for energy-intensive industrial users.
